Lakers Rally To Seal 3-0 Series Lead As James Hails Team Spirit
LeBron James praised the Los Angeles Lakers squad for resilience after a tense overtime win against the Houston Rockets, which gave Los Angeles a 3-0 advantage in the Western Conference first-round series, despite the team missing injured leading scorers Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves for the past three weeks.
With one more victory needed to reach the second round, the Los Angeles Lakers now hold full control of the matchup, and can close out the best-of-seven series in Houston on Sunday after surviving a dramatic finish in regulation before pulling clear in the extra period.

The Los Angeles Lakers trailed by six points entering the final 30 seconds of the fourth quarter, yet still forced overtime and eventually edged the Houston Rockets 112-108, with James delivering 29 points, 13 rebounds, six assists and eight turnovers in a performance that drove the extra-time success.
The late rally placed the Los Angeles Lakers in rare company, as the franchise became only the second team in the past 30 years to erase a six-point deficit in the last 30 seconds of regulation and still win a playoff contest, mirroring what the Philadelphia 76ers achieved against the New York Knicks in 2024.
"The game's never over until zero's on the clock, he said.We don't have the luxury of being passive or being complacent. Our whole mindset is we have to do everything it takes in that particular game and that particular moment in that particular possession in order for us to win basketball games, because we don't have a long leash of error."
James underlined how the loss of Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves late in the regular season forced the Los Angeles Lakers group to adjust roles quickly, as rotations changed before the playoffs and responsibilities increased across the roster during the opening three games against the Houston Rockets.
"The last week of the season, the last thing you would want or even want to imagine or think about istwo of your best players going down with injuries and not being ready for the postseason," added James, who accepted the situation had demanded tactical changes. "So, it was a shift for all of us; it's challenging for all of us. We're figuring it out together on the fly."
The Los Angeles Lakers now carry momentum and a 3-0 series cushion into Sunday’s road game in Houston, where a sweep would secure early progression and provide valuable recovery time for the current rotation while the status of Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves continues to be monitored.
