Doncic Reflects On Lakers' Heavy Loss To Thunder As One Of Their Worst Games This Season

Luka Doncic described the Los Angeles Lakers' recent loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder as one of their worst games this season. The defeat highlighted areas for improvement as the team continues to adjust without LeBron James.

The Los Angeles Lakers suffered a significant defeat against the Oklahoma City Thunder, losing 121-92. Luka Doncic described this as their worst performance of the season. The Thunder, boasting a league-leading 12-1 record, dominated the game. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led with 30 points and nine assists, while Isaiah Joe contributed 21 points.

Doncic struggled without LeBron James, scoring only 19 points on 7-for-20 shooting. He also recorded seven rebounds, seven assists, and four turnovers. The Lakers were outscored by 31 points during Doncic's time on the court. The halftime deficit of 30 points was the largest Doncic has faced in his eight-year career.

Reflecting on the game, Doncic acknowledged their poor performance: "Definitely wasn't our best game," he said. "Probably one of the worst this season, but they did a great job. I think they all did a great job on me." He praised the Thunder's championship calibre and recognised his need for improvement.

Doncic: Lakers' Loss to Thunder Was Disappointing

The Lakers currently hold an 8-4 record. Despite this setback, Doncic sees it as motivation to catch up to the Thunder: "It's not concerning. I think it's more of a big motivation," he stated. He acknowledged the Thunder's strong start to the season and expressed determination to match their level.

Doncic also addressed questions about Dallas Mavericks' decision to fire general manager Nico Harrison. Harrison had orchestrated Doncic's trade to the Lakers in exchange for Anthony Davis. Since then, Dallas has struggled with a 3-9 record this season.

Despite moving on from Dallas, Doncic holds fond memories of his time there: "The city of Dallas, the fans, the players, they'll always have a special place in my heart," he shared. Although he thought he'd stay in Dallas forever, he's now focused on his role with the Lakers.

Doncic remains committed to progressing with the Lakers while cherishing his connection to Dallas: "I will always call it home," he said. However, his focus is now firmly on contributing to his current team and moving forward.
