JJ Redick has revealed that the Los Angeles Lakers are considering how to mark the occasion when LeBron James and his son, Bronny James, play together for the first time this season. Bronny is preparing for his debut NBA season with the Lakers after being drafted in the second round following a year at USC. This father-son duo will make history in the NBA when they step onto the court against the Minnesota Timberwolves on October 22.
Redick mentioned that while discussions have taken place about commemorating this historic moment, no final decisions have been made. He emphasised that both LeBron and Bronny will be part of these discussions. "We obviously have talked about it as a staff, and we've gotten into some specifics of what that might look like," Redick stated during a press conference. "But we haven't committed to anything. And obviously, there's a discussion to be had once we're all together with Bronny and LeBron, too. They should be a part of that discussion as well."

Appointed as the Lakers' head coach in June, Redick is stepping into his first NBA coaching role. His responsibilities include managing the unique dynamic between LeBron and Bronny James while aiming to improve on last season's first-round playoff exit. Despite these challenges, Redick remains unfazed by the task ahead.
"I don't look at it as a challenge," he said regarding coaching both players. "It's unique from any other challenge of coaching a player or coaching a relationship." Redick expressed enthusiasm about working with Bronny, noting his potential and eagerness to develop into an exceptional NBA player.
Redick praised Bronny's skills and attitude, describing him as highly coachable with great spirit and energy. "Bronny, I feel very fortunate that I get to coach him because he's young, and he's hungry," Redick remarked. He believes Bronny possesses inherent skills that can be honed into making him an outstanding player in the league.
The upcoming season promises excitement as fans eagerly await seeing LeBron and Bronny share the court. The Lakers' plans for this significant event remain under wraps but are expected to involve input from both players. As Redick embarks on his new journey with the team, he remains optimistic about guiding them through this historic chapter.
