Lakers Show Strong Response To Redick's Criticism Against Timberwolves In Playoff Game

LeBron James commended the Lakers for their strong response to JJ Redick's halftime criticism during their playoff win over the Timberwolves, tying the series.

LeBron James expressed his admiration for the Los Angeles Lakers' reaction to a stern third-quarter talk from head coach JJ Redick during their win over the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Lakers had seen their 22-point advantage shrink, prompting Redick to passionately address his team. Following this, the Lakers executed a 9-0 run, restoring their lead to 20 points and securing a 94-85 victory, leveling the first-round series at 1-1.

James acknowledged Redick's intense approach, stating, "That's JJ. Obviously, we need to listen to the message and not how he's delivering it. I thought we responded after that." This response was crucial for Los Angeles, who were recovering from a heavy 117-95 defeat in Game 1 against Minnesota last Saturday.

Lakers Respond Well to Redick's Critique

In Game 2, Los Angeles showed significant improvement in fast-break points and three-point defense. After being outscored 25-6 in fast-break points in Game 1, they led 13-6 in Game 2. The Timberwolves had set a franchise postseason record by hitting 21 of their 42 three-point attempts in the opener. However, the Lakers restricted them to just five successful three-pointers out of 25 attempts on Tuesday.

The rebounding battle also shifted in favour of Los Angeles. In Game 1, Minnesota controlled the boards with a 44-38 advantage. But in Game 2, the Lakers turned the tables with a 41-34 edge. James attributed this turnaround to an intense practice session held prior to the game.

Three other starters for the Lakers scored in double digits alongside James. He contributed significantly with 21 points on an 8-for-19 shooting performance, adding eleven rebounds and seven assists. Austin Reaves added sixteen points along with five rebounds and five assists. Rui Hachimura chipped in with eleven points, five rebounds, and two steals.

Hachimura's contributions were notable on both ends of the court despite an early injury scare when he was hit in the face during the first quarter and had to leave temporarily. Coach Redick praised Hachimura's resilience: "He played like a warrior tonight... There were a few plays that he made just getting deflections and disrupting plays. He was awesome."

The victory showcased how well-prepared Los Angeles was following one of their best practice sessions of the year. James noted that this preparation gave them clarity on how they needed to approach their play style moving forward.
