Lampard not punched in League Cup final, says agent

LONDON, Mar 1 (Reuters) England's Frank Lampard was not punched in the League Cup final, the Chelsea midfielder's agent said today, following the brawl in Cardiff which cost Arsenal striker Emmanuel Adebayor a red card.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger called late yesterday for Lampard to 'tell the truth' about the incident in Chelsea's 2-1 win on Sunday and accused the linesman of lying by telling the FA that Adebayor had struck Lampard.

Lampard's agent Steven Kutner was quoted as telling BBC Sport: ''I've spoken to Frank and he told me that he wasn't punched.'' Adebayor, who has denied throwing a punch, is now serving an automatic three-match ban. The Togo striker risks further punishment after being charged with reacting aggressively and failing to leave the pitch immediately on Sunday.
