Lampard out of England's Euro 2008 qualifier

LONDON, Mar 28 (Reuters) Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard will miss England's Euro 2008 Group E qualifier against Andorra in Barcelona because of a wrist injury, his club said today.

Lampard, who has played 53 times for his country, suffered the injury during training earlier this week and will be assessed by Chelsea's medical staff on his return, the club said on its Web site www.chelseafc.com.

Sky Sports reported that Lampard had suffered a fractured wrist when he was struck by a shot from Manchester United's England striker Wayne Rooney.

England are under pressure to win today's match after winning just two of their five qualifiers so far. They are three points behind second-placed Russia and five behind leaders Croatia.
