Lampard backs Terry to lift FA Cup and end continuous jeering

London, Mar 9 (ANI): England's ace midfielder Frank Lampard has backed Chelsea captain John Terry to lift the Football Association Cup this season and end the abuse from rival fans.

Terry has suffered non-stop jeering from Stoke fans during their FA Cup quarterfinal, which prompted him to show off his captain's armband for the entire world to see.

"I think it will mean the same to John, lifting the Cup, as every year. It's quite boring to keep dwelling on the same thing. You want to win trophies, to look back on your career with trophies," Lampard said.

"As a captain and for the club, you want to win them. John will be the same as everyone else. We all get that to an extent. I've had that at times. John got it against Stoke. Sometimes the abuse does overstep the mark. But strong players just react in positive ways. That's what John did," he said.

"Listen, these things happen, as I say. I'm not going to come out and say it's time for it to stop. We'll play and move on, yeah. That's a good answer really," The Mirror quoted Lampard, as saying.

He also backed Chelsea's squad to overcome the double blow of losing Jose Bosingwa and Michael Essien to injury.

"It's a big blow. They're both international players. It seems we've hardly had Essien at all over the last two years, and he's a fantastic player. Bosingwa is a fantastic right-back. We've had hese problems before. We've had them for the past few seasons," he said. (ANI)
