Lando Norris Discusses Overcoming Criticism While Leading The F1 Championship

Lando Norris, leading the F1 championship, shares insights on managing criticism while striving for his first title. He emphasises self-confidence and staying focused.

Lando Norris, leading the Formula One championship, is focused on his first title. After winning the Brazilian Grand Prix, he is 24 points ahead of McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri. With only three races left in the 2025 season, Norris believes handling criticism has been crucial in his journey from contender to favourite.

Learning to manage public perception has been significant for Norris. "I care a lot about people's perspectives and how I'm portrayed and things in the media," he said. "I probably cared too much—even at the beginning of the year, I think I cared too much, and probably it was affecting me in not the best ways."

Norris Addresses Criticism in F1 Title Pursuit

Norris acknowledges that criticism is part of being in the spotlight. "There's always people out there who try and bring you down a little bit. I guess it's quite normal," he added. He has learned to cope with both cheers and jeers, understanding they are part of the sport's environment.

He emphasises staying true to oneself despite external opinions. "I've just learned to deal with those things better—not by not caring, because I still always want to have a good impression," Norris explained. His focus remains on maintaining confidence and expressing his beliefs.

Norris highlights the importance of self-belief and speaking one's mind. He states, "That's one of the things I've learned the most: just to be true to yourself, have confidence in yourself, believe in yourself, and speak your mind." This mindset helps him stay focused on personal growth.

The F1 circuit now moves to Las Vegas for its next race before concluding in Doha and Abu Dhabi. As Norris continues his quest for victory, he remains committed to keeping his head down and concentrating on his performance.
