Lando Norris expressed optimism about his performance in Saudi Arabia after leading the second practice session on Friday. Pierre Gasly had unexpectedly topped the first practice in Jeddah, with Norris close behind. McLaren, however, showcased their strength in the second session as Norris finished 0.163 seconds ahead of teammate Oscar Piastri, who had won in Bahrain the previous weekend.
Despite a late-session incident involving Yuki Tsunoda hitting the walls at the final corner, McLaren maintained their momentum. Tsunoda ended up sixth fastest, trailing Max Verstappen, Charles Leclerc, and Carlos Sainz. Red Bull faces significant work on their car before Saturday's session. McLaren has consistently scored points in the last 42 Formula 1 Grand Prix races and has been fastest after the second practice for three consecutive race weekends.

Norris has been vocal about his challenges with the car despite leading the drivers' championship. He believes he is beginning to adapt to it better. "A pretty decent first day. Always feels chaotic around here because it's so fast, a lot of walls, a lot of near-misses," Norris remarked.
Norris focused more on improving his driving skills than on car adjustments during practice. He noted gaining confidence and feeling more comfortable with each lap. "It has been a day of working on myself and my driving, more than probably working on the car," he said. Although confident, he acknowledged that competitors are not far behind.
Max Verstappen was less satisfied despite finishing third in practice. The Dutch driver is notable for winning twice at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix and consistently reaching the podium in all four races held in Jeddah. However, he struggled to match Ferrari and Mercedes' race pace during both sessions.
Verstappen experimented with different setups but wasn't entirely content with the results. "We tried some different things, trying to find maybe a different direction, and we learned a lot from it," he stated. While single-lap performance improved slightly, longer runs remained challenging for him.
As preparations continue for Saturday's session, teams are keen to refine their strategies and enhance their cars' performance to stay competitive in this demanding race environment.
