India's golden boy and defending Diamond League champion javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra will continue his quest to defend the title when he returns to action at the Lausanne Diamond League 2023 - Athletissima.
The reigning Olympic champion Chopra won the first Diamond League 2023 meeting of the year at Suhaim bin Hamad Stadium in Doha, Qatar with a best throw of 88.67 meters in men's javelin throw.

Now, the Tokyo Olympic gold medallist will look to win for the second time in Lausanne after clinching first place in the event last year with a throw of 89.08 meters. He has been getting close to the 90 meter distance.
The 25-year-old, however, will look to breach the 90 meter mark, having gone close with an 89.94 meter effort on the exact same day as the 2023 Lausanne event last year in Stockholm.
But, the Indian javelin thrower will face challenge from the likes of reigning World Athletics champion Anderson Peters of Grenada and the athlete with the best effort this season - Czech Republic's Jakub Vadlejch among others.
In Doha, Chopra finished first with a best attempt to 88.67 meters, while Vadlejch finished second with a best throw of 88.63 meters followed by Peters, who finished third with a best effort of 85.88 meters.
