Like Father, Like Son: LeBron and Bronny James Make NBA History Together

Sure, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. But, when it comes to the basketball court, that tree is a towering giant! LeBron James and his son, Bronny James, recently made headlines as the first father-son duo to share the court in NBA history. Yes, you read that right-two generations of Jameses playing for the same team! Talk about keeping it in the family!

During a pre-season showdown against the Phoenix Suns, Bronny made his big debut on his 20th birthday, stepping onto the court during the second quarter of a game that ended with the Lakers on the wrong side of a 118-114 score. But who cares about the scoreboard when you're making history?

LeBron took to X to share his excitement: "Wow, that was surreal." And if you think that was just dad-speak, wait until you hear what he said next. "We came out of a timeout and we kind of stood next to each other. I kind of looked at him. It was like being in The Matrix or something. It just didn't feel real. But it was great to have those moments."

Now, while LeBron was busy showing off his skills with 19 points, four assists, and five rebounds (classic LeBron), Bronny had a bit of a rough patch. He didn't manage to score during his 13 minutes on the court, but hey, he grabbed two rebounds and had four turnovers-so, clearly, he's got the "family genes" working for him! After all, even the best have their off days.

Bronny joined the Lakers as a second-round draft pick from the University of Southern California just a few months ago. And speaking of LeBron, the 39-year-old phenom, who's not just the NBA's all-time leading scorer but also a four-time champion, is entering his 22nd season.

LeBron even signed a two-year deal with the Lakers right after Bronny's arrival, proving that this family affair isn't just a passing fancy. With the 2024-25 NBA season kicking off on October 22, the Lakers will be squaring off against the Minnesota Timberwolves-after the Boston Celtics take on the New York Knicks.

So here's to LeBron and Bronny, the dynamic duo lighting up the court! It's not every day you see history being made, especially when it involves a father-son combo. They may not have taken home the win this time, but they sure scored a victory for family and basketball lovers everywhere!
