LeBron James expressed pride in surpassing the NBA record for the most 30-point games during the Los Angeles Lakers' 119-102 win over the Atlanta Hawks. James achieved this milestone with 5:58 remaining, marking his 563rd regular-season game scoring at least 30 points, surpassing Michael Jordan's record set in 2003.
Jordan had established his record over 1,072 games spanning 15 seasons, while James reached this feat in 1,523 games across 22 seasons. "It's very humbling," said James after the Lakers' victory, their eighth in eleven games. "Anytime I'm mentioned with any of the greats, and arguably the greatest ever to play the game, super cool."

"It's someone I idolised in my childhood," James continued, referring to Jordan. "I wear 23 because of him. So to know that I can sit here and be in the room or in the conversation or whatever it is when you mention MJ, it's just super-duper dope for me, being a kid from where I'm from."
Anthony Davis made a significant impact upon returning from an ankle injury. He contributed 18 points, grabbed 19 rebounds, and recorded three steals and blocks each during the same game. The 31-year-old showed support for James but also joked about his achievement.
"It took him seven more seasons," Davis remarked with a smile. "But that's obviously a hell of an accomplishment. I think he's probably No. 1 f****ing everything at this point." Davis' playful comment highlighted both admiration and camaraderie among teammates.
The shot that secured James' place in history was a turnaround fadeaway jumper along the left wing—a move reminiscent of Jordan's style. According to James, this similarity was intentional. "He was more of a left-shoulder fadeaway guy," he explained.
"I kind of go the opposite way," James added. "But it's two masters of their craft putting in work and work and work to the point where it kind of becomes unguardable. It's just work. It's just work and dedication."
James shared how he studied Jordan's balance even when fading away from the basket. This observation influenced his own development as his career progressed over time.
