LeBron James Highlights Team Effort In Lakers' Victory Over Kings

LeBron James downplays the notion that the Lakers are built around him, focusing instead on the team's collective effort in their recent victory against the Kings. He praises teammates like Anthony Davis for their contributions.

LeBron James dismissed the notion that the Los Angeles Lakers are structured around him, despite his impressive performance against the Sacramento Kings. In a stunning fourth-quarter display, James scored 16 points and provided an assist, leading the Lakers to a 131-127 victory on Saturday. The Lakers have won their first three games this season, with James scoring a game-high 32 points.

James, now in his 22nd NBA season at age 39, emphasised that the win was a collective effort. "Listen, I could do that at 22, but at almost 40, I don't need to be doing it for four quarters," he stated. He also contributed 14 rebounds and 10 assists for a triple-double. James highlighted the team's depth by mentioning Anthony Davis as an MVP-calibre player alongside him.

LeBron Emphasises Team Play in Lakers Win

The Lakers' roster includes players like Austin Reaves and D'Angelo Russell who can score quickly. Rui Hachimura has also been consistent in contributing points. "This team is not built for me to have 16-point quarters through all four quarters," James explained. "We're a team, and we all play together."

Lakers coach JJ Redick expressed awe at James' performance. "What can you say? We've all been very fortunate to watch his greatness for so long," Redick remarked. He found it incredible that James continues to perform at such a high level.

While James shone brightly, it was Davis who secured crucial points in the game's final moments. Davis hit a three-pointer and then made a free throw in the last minute. "We encourage him, coaches encourage him, we as his teammates encourage him to shoot that 3 ball," said James about Davis.

Davis has started the season with three consecutive 30-point games. This achievement ties him with Elgin Baylor, Jerry West, and Kobe Bryant for a franchise record. His contributions have been vital to the team's early success.

The Lakers' strong start reflects their teamwork and depth rather than reliance on one player alone. With multiple players capable of stepping up when needed, they aim to continue their winning streak in upcoming games.
