LeBron James Returns To Practice With Los Angeles Lakers Ahead Of Potential Season Debut

LeBron James has returned to practice with the Los Angeles Lakers as he prepares for his potential season debut. His return hinges on recovery from sciatica and conditioning.

LeBron James is on the verge of returning to action with the Los Angeles Lakers. He participated in a practice session on Monday and might make his season debut against the Utah Jazz on Tuesday. His decision depends on how he feels after his first practice since late September. "Just trying to get back to where I feel like myself again," James mentioned.

James, who is 40, has been out due to sciatica since before training camp began. Recently, he has been working with the G League's South Bay Lakers to increase his activity and conditioning. However, he admits he's not fully fit yet. "My lungs feel like a newborn baby," James said, emphasizing the need to regain his stamina.

LeBron James Back in Practice with Lakers

Upon his return, James will set a record as the first NBA player to compete in 23 seasons. If he opts not to play on Tuesday, the Lakers' next game is scheduled for Sunday against Utah. Meanwhile, Luka Dončić has been leading the team impressively during James' absence.

Dončić's performance has been stellar, with an average of 34.4 points per game—the highest in the league. This has propelled the Lakers to a strong start with a 10-4 record, placing them at the top of the Pacific Division.

James expressed that regaining full fitness is crucial before making a comeback. "That's the most important thing: I've got to get my lungs back up to a grown man," he stated. The veteran player also noted that his voice was strained from just one day of calling plays and assignments during practice.

The Lakers are hopeful about James' return but are cautious about rushing him back into games too soon. His health and readiness remain priorities as they aim for long-term success this season.

James plans for tea and rest as part of his recovery routine after practice sessions. The Lakers eagerly await their star player's return while ensuring he is fully prepared for competitive play.
