Charles Leclerc Savours Monumental Monaco And Monza Grand Prix Wins

Charles Leclerc triumphed at the Italian Grand Prix, securing a memorable double by winning both his favourite races in one season. His victory at Monza, coupled with his win at the Monaco Grand Prix, places him among the elite drivers in Formula 1 history.

Charles Leclerc celebrated a remarkable double victory on Sunday, clinching the Italian Grand Prix and securing wins at both of his favourite races this season. Leclerc outpaced McLaren's Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris for a thrilling win at Monza, starting from fourth on the grid to replicate his 2019 triumph at the same venue.

Only Michael Schumacher has won more Italian Grand Prix titles with Ferrari than Leclerc, who now matches Rubens Barrichello, Phil Hill, Alberto Ascari, and Clay Regazzoni with two victories. This win follows Leclerc's home victory at the Monaco Grand Prix in May, making 2024 an unforgettable season for the Scuderia driver.

Leclerc's Monaco-Monza Wins

Reflecting on his achievement, Leclerc said, "It is an incredible feeling. I thought the second time, if there was a second time, would not feel as special as the first, but the emotions over the last few laps were the same as in 2019. I want to win Monza and Monaco every year and I have managed to do so. It is so, so special."

Sitting third in the drivers' championship standings, Leclerc now holds a 20-point lead over fourth-placed Piastri and trails Norris by just 23 points. Norris has been tipped to challenge Max Verstappen for the title.

When asked about Ferrari's chances of continuing their winning streak in the remaining races of the season, Leclerc expressed uncertainty. "I don't know. Our package was working well on a track like Monza but whether it will be the same for the rest of the season, I doubt it," he said. "I still think McLaren are favourites but we have done a step forwards, that's for sure."

Leclerc also mentioned Baku as a potential venue where Ferrari could achieve something special. "Baku is a pretty nice track for me, so maybe we can achieve something special there," he added.

The Scuderia Ferrari team shared their excitement on social media with a post that read: "Il vostro re di Monza #ItalianGP #F1" alongside a picture of Leclerc celebrating his victory.

This season has indeed been memorable for Charles Leclerc and Ferrari fans alike. With key victories at iconic tracks like Monaco and Monza, Leclerc has solidified his status as one of Formula 1's top drivers.
