Charles Leclerc narrowly missed out on securing pole position for the Monaco Grand Prix, finishing just behind Lando Norris. Norris managed to edge out Leclerc by 0.109 seconds during the final lap of Saturday's qualifying session. This result placed Leclerc in second position for Sunday's race, with Norris leading the pack.
Leclerc expressed his disappointment about not clinching pole position, especially at his home race. He remarked, "There's always something more to be done but at the end of the day this was the best we could do." He noted that traffic in sector two affected his first lap, which impacted his confidence for subsequent runs.

Lando Norris' teammate, Oscar Piastri, secured third place in qualifying. Meanwhile, Lewis Hamilton finished behind Piastri but later received a three-place grid penalty. This penalty was due to impeding Max Verstappen during qualifying, promoting Verstappen to fourth place.
Hamilton explained the situation that led to his penalty. He said he received incorrect information from his race engineer regarding Verstappen's lap status. "I think I was doing a good job of staying out of the way of everyone," Hamilton stated before the penalty confirmation.
Despite missing pole position, Leclerc remains optimistic about his performance on city tracks like Monaco. He shared, "I like city tracks in general. I like to go all in to qualifying and take maximum risk." Although he acknowledged that sometimes risks don't pay off, he felt proud of his efforts given the weekend's challenges.
The Monegasque driver anticipates a challenging race with Norris starting ahead. "Obviously, I'm frustrated," Leclerc admitted. He acknowledged that Ferrari doesn't have the car to consistently win this year but felt positive about its performance over the weekend.
Hamilton ended up starting from seventh place due to his penalty. The seven-time world champion reflected on how miscommunication led him to accelerate when Verstappen was approaching. "I accelerated for 10 metres," he explained, acknowledging that it distracted Verstappen.
The upcoming race promises excitement as drivers navigate Monaco's challenging circuit. With Norris leading and Leclerc eager to challenge from second place, fans can expect an intense battle on Sunday.
