Gurugram, March 28, 2024: At the prestigious Hero Indian Open, golf enthusiasts were treated to an exceptional display of skill and precision. Joost Luiten of the Netherlands, known for his proficiency on the golf course, shared the spotlight with Japan's Keita Nakajima and Italy's Matteo Manassero after a thrilling first round at the DLF Golf and Country Club. Luiten, a six-time DP World Tour winner, delivered a stellar 7-under 67 performance, despite finding the course "demanding".
Nakajima, a former World No. 1 amateur, showcased his talent with an impressive card, tying for the lead. The young Japanese pro, who turned professional in 2022, has already clinched three titles on the Japan Tour, solidifying his reputation. Manassero's bogey-free 65 signals a resurgence for the Italian, who became the first teenager to win three times in Europe by 2012.

Indian players also made their mark with Aman Raj, Om Prakash Chouhan, and Karandeep Kochhar all tied at 4-under. Chouhan, aiming to improve his ranking to secure his card for the next season, highlighted the importance of the Hero Indian Open in his career. Raj, with the support of his friend and fellow pro, Arjun Prasad, expressed satisfaction with his performance, attributing his calm and stable play to Prasad's guidance.
Shubhankar Sharma, the top-ranked Indian, and Gaganjeet Bhullar both finished the round at 2-under 70. Sharma, despite a challenging start and battling health concerns, remained optimistic about his performance. Anirban Lahiri, however, faced a tougher challenge, ending the day at 5-over and in need of a significant turnaround to stay in the competition.
As the tournament progresses, the leaderboard remains tightly contested, with three players tied for the lead at 65, and several others closely following. The Hero Indian Open continues to be a crucial event for professional golfers, offering them a platform to showcase their skills and vie for supremacy on the challenging course at DLF Golf and Country Club.
