Luka Doncic Out Indefinitely With Left Hamstring Strain: Lakers Face Uncertain Road Ahead
Luka Doncic faces an uncertain end to the season after a Grade 2 strain to the left hamstring, suffered during the Los Angeles Lakers’ heavy defeat against the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Lakers confirmed Doncic will miss the rest of the regular season, and did not provide any schedule for possible playoff availability.
Medical guidance for a Grade 2 hamstring strain usually indicates a return window of three to six weeks. This timeline places Doncic’s participation in the early playoff rounds in doubt. The Lakers, who hold a 50-27 record and sit third in the Western Conference, now enter the final stretch without their leading scorer.

Doncic already dealt with left hamstring trouble earlier this campaign. The Slovenian missed four games before the All-Star break because of a similar strain, then came back immediately after the break. Those previous issues now add concern as the current injury affects the same hamstring and comes so close to the postseason.
The guard is in the first full season with Los Angeles after a trade from the Dallas Mavericks last season. Doncic averages 33.5 points, 8.3 assists and 7.7 rebounds for the Lakers, leading the league in scoring. Doncic earned Western Conference player of the month for March after 13 straight 30-point games, including seven with at least 40 points.
Lakers coach JJ Redick explained that Doncic initially hurt the hamstring during the first half against the Thunder. Medical staff cleared a return, but Doncic lasted only about four minutes. Doncic then planted, spun, stopped sharply and dropped to the floor in clear pain, before leaving the game and not returning.
Los Angeles now has five regular-season games remaining, starting on Sunday at Dallas, where Doncic previously starred. The guard has driven the Lakers’ push up the standings, and any absence beyond the regular season would reshape their playoff plans as the organisation awaits further medical updates.
