Lynx Bounce Back With Strong Performance Against Sparks In WNBA Action

The Minnesota Lynx improved to 18-3 after defeating the Los Angeles Sparks. Natisha Hiedeman led with 18 points, while Napheesa Collier contributed significantly.

Minnesota Lynx secured a victory, improving their record to 18-3 this season. Despite a recent loss that ended their five-game winning streak, they managed to defeat Los Angeles Sparks, who now stand at 6-14 and rank 11th in the WNBA's 13-team lineup. The Lynx held a 10-point lead at halftime and extended it to 27 points by the third quarter.

Los Angeles attempted a comeback with a 17-0 run bridging the third and fourth quarters, narrowing the gap to 80-70. However, Minnesota maintained composure and kept their lead in double digits for most of the final quarter. Reserve guard Natisha Hiedeman led the Lynx with 18 points, matching her season high.

Lynx Secure Victory Over Sparks

Napheesa Collier, who was named Western Conference Player of the Month for June and is also an All-Star captain for 2025, contributed significantly with 17 points, eight rebounds, and five assists. Meanwhile, Kelsey Plum stood out for Los Angeles with 17 points and achieved a season-best of 12 assists. Unfortunately for Los Angeles, this marked their seventh loss in nine games.

In another game, Washington Mystics emerged victorious against Las Vegas Aces with a close score of 70-68. Brittney Sykes scored 18 points while Shakira Austin added 16 points and eight rebounds. The Mystics finished strong with a decisive 12-2 run to secure the win.

Jewell Loyd led Las Vegas with 20 points as Chelsea Gray contributed an additional 13 points. The Aces were without reigning WNBA MVP Aja Wilson due to an injured right wrist sustained during their previous game against New York. Wilson's absence was felt as Las Vegas struggled to maintain their lead.

The Mystics were trailing by eight points with just under four minutes left but managed to take the lead when Austin scored off an offensive rebound with less than a minute remaining. Las Vegas had multiple opportunities to regain control but failed to capitalise on them.

The recent matches highlighted both teams' strengths and weaknesses as they continue their journey in the WNBA season. Minnesota's resilience and Washington's late-game surge were key factors in their respective victories.
