Cheryl Reeve Expresses Overwhelming Pride As Lynx Advance To WNBA Finals After Seven-Year Wait

Minnesota Lynx coach Cheryl Reeve shares her pride after the team secures a place in the WNBA Finals for the first time in seven years. The Lynx defeated Connecticut Sun 88-77, showcasing strong performances from players like Napheesa Collier.

Minnesota Lynx coach Cheryl Reeve expressed immense pride in her team after they reached the WNBA Finals for the first time in seven years. The Lynx secured an 88-77 victory over the Connecticut Sun in Game 5 of the semi-finals. This achievement marks Minnesota's seventh appearance in the WNBA Finals, setting a league record for most appearances by a team.

Napheesa Collier played a crucial role, scoring 27 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. Courtney Williams also made a significant impact with 24 points. Reeve praised both players, especially highlighting Collier's dedication this season. "What makes [Collier] special is her consistency and the way she shows up every single day," Reeve noted. "She's always the same, her work ethic, her demeanour, her passion for improving."

Lynx Coach Cheryl Reeve Proud of Team's Achievement

The Lynx have previously won four titles, sharing the record for most championships in league history. A victory over the New York Liberty would make them the sole leaders in this category. Reeve has been at the helm for all four previous titles and commended her team's performance in securing this latest win.

During the regular season, Minnesota finished second in the league standings, trailing two games behind New York Liberty. However, they have managed to win three out of four encounters with New York this year. This includes their triumph in the WNBA Commissioner's Cup on June 25.

Reeve shared how much support they've received from fans who enjoy watching them play and are rooting for their success. "I feel overwhelmingly proud," she said. "We played Lynx basketball, and it was good to get back to it." The Finals will commence with Game 1 on October 10.

Reeve's admiration for Collier extends beyond just scoring abilities; she believes Collier's presence elevates the entire team to where it needs to be when she performs like an MVP. As they prepare for their upcoming challenge against New York Liberty, Minnesota aims to continue their strong form and potentially claim another championship title.
