Orlando Magic And New York Knicks Advance To NBA Cup Semi-Finals With Strong Performances

The Orlando Magic and New York Knicks both secured their places in the NBA Cup semi-finals following decisive quarter-final wins. Desmond Bane led the Magic past the Heat, while Jalen Brunson's performance propelled the Knicks over the Raptors.

Desmond Bane's impressive performance, scoring 37 points with six 3-pointers, propelled the Orlando Magic to a 117-108 victory over the Miami Heat in an NBA Cup quarter-final. Despite trailing by 16 points in the first half and ending the first quarter down 30-17, Bane's contribution in the final three quarters was crucial for Orlando's comeback.

Bane's shooting accuracy was notable, hitting 14 of 24 from the field and 6 of 9 from beyond the arc. He also contributed six rebounds and five assists. The Magic were missing star forward Franz Wagner due to a high ankle sprain but managed to outscore Miami from the 3-point line, securing a 45-24 advantage.

Magic and Knicks Reach NBA Cup Semi-Finals

Jalen Suggs added 20 points, while Paolo Banchero scored 18. Wendell Carter Jr. recorded his fourth double-double this season with 14 points and ten rebounds. This win improved Orlando's record to 11-4 over the past month. Norman Powell led Miami with 21 points, followed by Tyler Herro with 20. Bam Adebayo and Andrew Wiggins each contributed 19 points.

The Heat have been struggling recently, suffering their fifth loss in six games. Meanwhile, Jalen Brunson led the New York Knicks to a dominant victory over the Toronto Raptors in another NBA Cup quarter-final match-up.

Brunson scored an efficient 35 points as New York overcame a first-quarter deficit to beat Toronto 117-101. The Knicks turned the game around with a strong second quarter, outscoring the Raptors by a margin of 34-13 to lead by 17 at halftime.

Brunson shot 13 for 19 from the field and made six successful attempts from long range. All Knicks starters reached double figures, including Josh Hart who scored 21 points on efficient shooting. Karl-Anthony Towns added a solid performance with 14 points and grabbed ten rebounds.

Raptors' Struggles Continue

The Knicks have now won four consecutive games and eight of their last nine outings. Brandon Ingram led Toronto with an impressive effort of his own, scoring 31 points along with six rebounds and six assists while shooting efficiently at 11 for 18 from the field.

Despite winning nine straight games in November, Toronto has struggled since then, falling to a record of one win against six losses in recent matches and losing four consecutive games.

The upcoming NBA Cup semifinals will see New York face off against Orlando on Saturday as both teams aim to continue their strong performances in this tournament.
