Maharashtra claim three diving gold

Guwahati, Feb 14 (UNI) The experienced Maharashtra diving team claimed three of the four Gold medals on offer today in the National Games here.

Out of the six events in diving, finals for four events were held. In 10 M platform diving for men, Tusharo Gitaye won the gold for the state scoring 300.65 points. N Saroj Kumar and Karthik Shaw, both from the Services won the silver and bronze respectively in the event.

However, Services men came back strongly to claim the 3 meters springboard as Manesh Kumar secured the gold by scoring 331.70 points.

Sharath Gaddam, also from Services, won the Silver while Jagadish Sinha Takhellamabam of Manipur got the bronze.

Both the two women's events were won by Maharashtra today. In 10 Meters platform diving, Yogita Walunj of Maharashtra claimed the Gold by securing 225.40 points. Her compatriot from the state Rupali Shinde bagged the Silver while Debuna Devi Thangjam of Manipur won the Bronze.

Hrutika Shriram completed the gold hunt for Maharashtra in the event for the day when she bagged the Gold in 1 meter springboard.

Partha Kshirsagar from Madhya Pradesh bagged the Silver and Neha Naik again from Maharashtra got the Bronze in the event.

Two events -- 3 meters springboard for women and 1 meter springboard for men -- are yet to start in the games.
