Maharashtra emerges overall champions in Aquatic Meet

Panaji, Jan 12 (UNI) Maharashtra with 815 points, emerged overall champions in the 52nd National Aquatic School Championship, which concluded at Swimming Complex in Campal here today.

In the overall group championship, Maharashtra claimed first place with 230 points in the under-14 age group. Karnataka, on the other hand bagged first place in both under-17 and under-19 with 258 points and 282 points respectively.

The last day of the five-day Championship saw six new records being set up, taking the tally of records to 32.

Out of 16 events today, Maharastra claimed four gold medals, Karnataka (8), Bengal (2), Gujarat and Tamilandu were content with one gold each.

Maharastra's gold medallists were Kshitija Vinchurk in 50m free style girls under-14, Anuja Nalang 50m free style under-19, two golds in 4x100m medley relay in under-14 and under-17 respectively.
