Maharashtra emerges overall diving champions
Panaji, June 25 (UNI) Maharashtra reaped a haul of 21 medals, including 12 gold, 5 silver and 4 broze, to emerge overall champions with 133 points in the Sub-Junior National Aquatic Diving championship, which concluded late last night at Campal swimming pool.
Maharastra, as expected, retained both diving and swimming titles.
In girls group I, Rutika Sriram scored 14 points and Zagruti Satarkar (19), both from Maharashtra.
In boys group I, Krishna Naik (Services) got 18 points and in group II, Prem Potabattai of Maharashtra scored 16 points.
In girls group III, Swati Vidap of Maharashtra secured 21 points, while in boys, Abhisek Tiwari (UP) 16 points. The two were adjudged as individual champions.
Maharastra divers put up a brillinat performance on the last day of the event by claiming 6 gold medals out of the eight events.
There were two new meet record by Mihir Sawala, with 360.05 points in 3 mts spring board boys group II, erasing the last record in the name of UP's Naveen Pandey's 297.65 set last year and Swati Vidap with 236.40 points in 1 MT spring board group III. She broke the record of her teammate Priyanka Thakkar of 208.65 points set last year.
Priyanka Thakkar claimed other gold for Maharastra in 3 mts spring board girls group II with 254.95 points. Poonam Shah scored 154.50 points in the 1 mt spring board girls group I. Prem Potabattai bagged 158.80 points in the 3 mt spring board boys group II and Zagruti Satarkar won 144.50 points in 4 mts spring board girls group II.
T Johnson Milthai of Manipur scored 245.65 points in 1 mt spring board boys group III and Krishna Naik (Services) claimed gold by obtaining 376.75 points in 1 mt spring board boys group I.
