Maharashtra swimmer sets new national record
Guwahati, Feb 10 (UNI) Maharashtra swimmer Veerdhaval Khade set a new national record while Delhi girl Richa Sharma shared the limelight by winning two gold to set the pool ablaze on the second day of 33rd National Games today.
Khade clocked 1.54.18 to clinch the gold in the 200 m freestyle, bettering his own national seniors' record of 1.57.17 minutes.
He also set a new meet record by going past 10-year-old previous National Games record of 1.58.68 set by J Abhijith of Karnataka.
Khade collected his second gold in 100 m butterfly, with a timing of 0.57.99 minutes.
Richa timed 2:12:83 in 200m freestyle and 1:05:93 secs in 100 m butterfly to emerge the most successful women swimmer of the day.
Manipur is heading the medal tally with four gold, two silver and two bronze whiile Delhi are second and Karnataka third.
