By Staff

Kolkata, Jul 18 (UNI) Shylo Malsawmtluanga alias Mama today became the second striker to score a hattrick in Sahara Premier League to lead Mohun Bagan to a 3-0 win over Railway Football Club at their home ground.

The Mizoram boy came in as substitute in the last 20 minutes of the first match against Peerless, while in the second match against Chirag United in which mercurial striker Barreto scored the first hattrick, he warmed the bench. But today he proved his striking ability and justified his full time play.

Mama, who donned green-maroon for the first time this season, netted in 37th, 43rd and 83rd minutes to enable McDowell Mohun Bagan maintain the pole position with nine points in eight-team premier division league.

Mama's first goal came when he lobbed over RFC golie Rakesh Prasad's head capitalising on an aerial pass from Barreto (1-0).

Six minutes later he slotted home off a corner from Lal Kamal Bhowmick, whose shot was headed away by Peter Odafe at goalmouth and the opportunist Mama deftly banged home (2-0).

Earlier, in the first five minutes Bagan had an open goal scoring opportunity but Barreto fumbled to beat the custodian.

Mama, who was egging for a hat-trick after two goals, found the net when his pilediver hit the target just seven minutes before the long whistle (3-0).
