Mani Shanker Aiyar hails Anand's victory

New Delhi, Oct 1 (UNI) Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Mani Shanker Aiyar today congratulated Vishwanathan Anand on becoming the World Chess Champion by winning the global tournament at Mexico.

He said that he was pleased to hear, as all Indians were, of his thrilling win at the Mexico event, wrestling the championship from an array of stars and passing the 2800-mark ELO rating, which was a brilliant achievement.

''I joing millions of my compatriots in congratulating you on this momentous victory bringing glory to our nation,'' he added.

He said that it was an immensely proud moment for all Indians.
