Manipur bags women team championship

Vijayawada, Jan 26 (UNI) Manipur today won the women's team championship defeating Assam in the 27th Cherukuri Volga Memorial Senior National Archery championship at Dr NTR University of Health Sciences here.

In the Indian round event, Geetanjali Devi, H Rajprivari Devi and T H Ishebi Devi of Manipur created a new record, scoring 1834 points out of 2160, beating the previous record of 1713 points scored by their state team, while Assam's Protiva Boro, Binuma Brahma and Belsri Narzari took the silver, scoring 1816 points.

Sports Authority of India (SAI) won the bronze with 1793 points.

In the overall championship, Rajprivari bagged the gold, scoring 629 points out of 720, beating the previous record of 591 points, scored by Geetanjali.

Gitanjali finished in second place with 627 points, while P Binitha Devi of SAI got the bronze with 616 points.

In the 50-m Indian round event, Rajprivari bagged the gold scoring 309 points out of 360, a new record, surpassing 288 points scored by Manipur woman L Gunita Devi earlier.

Gitanjali won the silver with 305 points and Belsri got the bronze, scoring 302 points.

In the 30-m event, Gitanjali created a new record by securing 322 points out of 360. Earlier, record 308 points was held by Madhurima of Uttar Pradesh.

Rajprivari won the silver with 320 points and Bharati Sarana of Assam the bronze, scoring 317 points.
