Mann wins 100 mt race in special athletic meet

Mumbai, Dec 15 (UNI) Shoeab Mann today became the fastest boy, winning the 100 meter race in 12-15 age group category in the special athletic meet for the mentally challenged children at the Kohli stadium here today.

The two-day special athletic meet, which began today, has been organised by the Navy Wives Welfare Association of the Western Command in coordination with Special Olympics 'Bharat Maharashtra' (west).

The two-day meet was inaugurated by Rear Admiral Rakesh Pandit, Flag Officer Doctrine and Concepts, Western Naval Command.

Around 1430 special children of 34 schools from Mumbai and Thane districts are participating in the meet with contests being held in the disciplines of athletics, badminton, basketball, cricket, cycling, football, handball, swimming, roller skating, table tennis and volleyball in five different age categories.

Today's results: 100 mt run 12-15 age group (boys) 1 Shoeab Mann, 2 Prathmesh Mahatre, 3 Mandeep Negi 30+ age group (men) 1 Ganesh Mahadik, 2 Sachin More, 3 Anil Jethwa 200 mt run 22-29 age group (men) 1 Viril Alvaris, 2 Pankaj Kadam, Venkatesh Ayer 22-29 group (women) 1 Bhakti Rajdarekar, 2 Varsha Chandrani, Dipeeka Soni Shot put 22-29 age group (men) 1 Enad Ansari, 2 Rajiv Menon, 3 Hardik.
