ManU's Rio Ferdinand makes rapping debut

By Staff

London, Aug 7 : Soccer player Rio Ferdinand has made his debut in the music world - as a rapper. His voice can be heard over part of the track 'Black Ice' by female rapper 'Nia Jai', the first signing to his White Chalk label.

Black Ice is released on October 6.

On the track, he can be heard rapping: "This is Rio Ferdinand. Make sure you do not sleep on Nia Jai, White Chalk's first signing. This girl spits out fire."

While talking about his singing stint, the 29-year-old revealed how excited he was about releasing the debut record.

"Nia's album is incredible; her collaborations with Chipmunk and Sway are a testament to her talent. I'm made up to be launching her first single and album," Telegraph quoted him, as saying.

Nia, who won a competition two and a half years ago to find White Chalk's first star said: "Rio has been involved a lot. He has been in the studio with me and texts me with ideas and opinions. He even has my CD in his car.

"I have nothing but good things to say about him. He's shown me a lot of love and I am really thankful that he has given me this chance. To be his first signing and release White Chalk's first album fills me with pride."
