Marfatia shocks fifth seed Siddharth

Mumbai, May 9 (UNI) Wild card Jugal Marfatia of Maharashtra upset fifth seed S Siddharth of Tamil Nadu to enter the boys' under-16 quarter-finals, in the Bombay Gymkhana-TCS All India National Super Series Junior Tennis Tournament here today.

Marfatia overcame a strong challenge from Siddharth before fashioning a hard-fought 6-4, 7-5 win.

Boys under-14 top seed Rohit Bisht of Delhi was taken the distance as he struggled his way to the quarter-finals.

Bisht, a double title winner in last week's National Series at Practennis, edged past unseeded Siddharth Ravat of Uttar Pradesh 3-6, 7-6 (4), 6-2.

Bisht surprisingly dropped the opening set and endured a strong challenge in the second, as Ravat forced the set into extra points.

But Ravat lost his way midway through the tie-breaker and Bisht recovered to never look back.

Bisht also entered the boys' under-16 quarter-finals. As No. 4 seed, he crushed Sagar Ahuja 6-0, 6-2.
