Max Verstappen clinched his fourth consecutive Formula One world championship by finishing fifth at the Las Vegas Grand Prix. George Russell claimed victory in the race. Verstappen only needed to finish ahead of Lando Norris to secure the title. With Russell winning from pole position, Verstappen's fifth-place finish placed him just ahead of Norris, who trails by 63 points with only 60 points remaining in the season.
Mercedes celebrated a surprising one-two finish, with Russell leading most of the race to achieve his third career win. He overcame an early challenge from Charles Leclerc, who swiftly passed Pierre Gasly and Carlos Sainz at the start. As Leclerc and Sainz competed against each other, Lewis Hamilton advanced through the field using a well-timed second pit stop.

In the final ten laps, Sainz and Leclerc managed to overtake Verstappen again after pitting, helping Ferrari narrow their gap with McLaren in the Constructors' Championship to just 24 points. Meanwhile, Norris made a late pit stop for fresh tyres to set the fastest lap, earning McLaren an extra point as they vie for the constructors' title with two races left.
Verstappen joins an elite group as only the fifth driver in F1 history to win four consecutive world titles. The last driver to achieve this was Lewis Hamilton between 2017 and 2020. Other drivers with similar feats include Sebastian Vettel (2010-13) and Juan Manuel Fangio (1954-57), while Michael Schumacher won five straight titles from 2000 to 2004.
The Red Bull driver's career points now total 2,989.5, bringing him close to surpassing the 3,000-point milestone—a feat only Hamilton and Vettel have reached before. Although Red Bull's chances in the Constructors' Championship are slim, setting a fastest lap in the final two races could make them the fifth team to reach 100 fastest laps.
The top ten finishers at Las Vegas were: George Russell (Mercedes), Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes), Carlos Sainz (Ferrari), Charles Leclerc (Ferrari), Max Verstappen (Red Bull), Lando Norris (McLaren), Oscar Piastri (McLaren), Nico Hulkenberg (Haas), Yuki Tsunoda (RB), and Sergio Perez (Red Bull).
{TABLE_1}The current standings show Max Verstappen leading with 403 points in the Drivers' Championship. Lando Norris follows with 340 points, while Charles Leclerc holds third place with 319 points. In the Constructors' standings, McLaren leads with 608 points, followed by Ferrari at 584 and Red Bull at 555.
This season has been remarkable for Verstappen as he continues to build on his legacy within Formula One. With two races remaining, both individual and team achievements remain within reach for several competitors.
