Bengaluru, August 22: Boxing great Lennox Lewis is not excited about this Saturday's heavily hyped Floyd Mayweather-Conor McGregor "Blockbuster" fight and in fact, in an interview with 'BBC Sport', Lewis called the 'big money fight' as "a farce."
Lewis, ocassionally a commentator now, said he will not be travelling to Las Vegas to watch the fight "unless they pay me to commentate on it."
The all-time great, however, did say there is some uncertainity to the fight - "everybody wants to know what's going to happen," he said.
"There is tremendous build-up and hype but I don't really take it as a serious fight," the Heavyweight great said.
"I wouldn't count a fight like this as a 'fight.' He's basically a boxing guy that is a UFC fighter and not a boxer."
Lewis added, "Everybody wants to know what's going to happen. Is he going to throw a kick because, obviously when he resorts to boxing and realises he is no match for Mayweather, what will he do? How will he get around that?"
This is a question on everybody's mind, wether McGregor might out of frustration throw a kick or attempt some other MMA move which of course is his natural strength. Some people have also predicted the 'Notorious' will do something like that on purpose, that will eventually disqualify him.
However, if McGregor does play under boxing rules, he surely faces a tough and possibly a long night this Saturday (August 26) and if the fight lasts the 12 rounds, surely the "Money" holds the upperhand in this. But, you never know Conor may pull a surprise out of nowhere and knockout Floyd.
Lewis is the second boxing great to criticize the Las Vegas fight followed by the Iron Mike Tyson, who earlier downplayed the hype for 'the greatest match' in combat sports which is set to be hosted in the T-Mobile arena and headline the Showtime PPV.
