Lando Norris Claims McLaren's Dominance Remains Unchanged Despite Flexi-Wings Ruling

McLaren's Lando Norris is confident that his team has established itself as the top constructor in Formula One this season. He stated that a recent rule change regarding flexi-wings had no impact at the Spanish Grand Prix. McLaren secured another one-two finish in Barcelona, with Norris finishing behind Oscar Piastri. This victory extended their lead over Ferrari in the constructors' championship to 197 points.

Before the race weekend, stricter tests on front wings were introduced, leading some to speculate that McLaren's dominance might be challenged. Ferrari's team principal, Frederic Vasseur, suggested these changes could alter the season's dynamics. However, Piastri downplayed the potential effects of these modifications. His assessment proved accurate as McLaren delivered another commanding performance.

Norris: Flexi-Wings Ruling Has No Impact

Despite facing criticism about their car, McLaren maintained their competitive edge. "There were a lot of complaints about our car, and they introduced this technical directive and changed nothing," Norris remarked. The team has consistently provided a well-rounded vehicle, which he believes is currently the best on the grid.

The only real threat during the race came from Max Verstappen. However, he faced difficulties towards the end and finished tenth after receiving a penalty for colliding with George Russell. This left Piastri and Norris largely unchallenged throughout the event.

The Formula One season will continue in Montreal after a brief break. The Canadian Grand Prix is scheduled for June 15. McLaren aims to maintain their momentum as they head into this next challenge.

Norris praised his team's efforts, saying, "The team have done a very good job to just give us a good all-round car and the best car on the grid." He expressed pride in driving such competitive cars each weekend and credited his team's dedication and hard work.

Piastri currently holds a ten-point advantage over Norris in the drivers' standings. This reflects McLaren's strong performance throughout the season so far. As they prepare for upcoming races, both drivers aim to continue building on their success.
