MDFA secretary Ashok Lohar passes away

Mumbai, Aug 28 (UNI) The secretary of the Mumbai District Football Association (MDFA) Ashok Lohar passed away here today after suffering a massive cardiac arrest.

A multi-sport official, Lohar was in his sixties.

Lohar was watching the inter-academy hockey semifinals at the Mahindra stadium here, when he suffered a cardiac arrest. He was rushed to the Bombay Hospital, where he died later.

Lohar, who served the Mumbai Schools Sports Association for over 40 years, had lost the recent election for president. He had served the body as secretary and vice-president. He was also the president of the Amateur Handball Association of Mumbai, secretary of the Mumbai Volleyball Association and was also member of the Mumbai Hockey Association and past secretary of the Maharashtra Olympic Association.

An NIS-qualified coach in athletics, Lohar was a volleyball coach for J B Vacchha, Savla Vidyalaya and Bansidhar Agarwal schools. He was an ex-employee of Mumbai Port Trust.
