Meerut wins west Zone team championship

Lucknow, Oct 14 (UNI) Meerut district has won the team championship of the West Zone Uttar Pradesh State Powerlifting championship played at Ahilya Bai Holkar stadium, Aligarh, on October 11 and 12.

According to UP Powerlifitng Association secretary P K Srivastava today, Meerut with 69 points lifted the team championship, the second place went to Ghaziabad by earning 55 points, while hosts Aligarh team stood at the third place with 50 points.

Srivastava informed that Rajendra Singh of Ghaziabad was adjusted as the strong man and Pushplata Singh of Meerut was declared as the strong woman of west zone.

In the Bench Press championship, Meerut won the top place accumulating 54 points and Aligarh with 45 points lifted second place.

Additional District Magistrate (city), Aligarh, Shailendra Singh was the chief guest of the closing cremony.
