Meharali siblings triumph in RCBC's District TT championship

Pune, Oct 2 (UNI) Unseeded Yamani Meharali and her sister Fauzia brought off a stunning upset accounting for second seed Devika Bhide in a thriller 12-10, 11-4, 11-4, 10-12, 15-13, while Fauzia showed the exit door to fourth seed Tanvi Laplikar 15-13, 14-12, 11-3, 9-11, 12-10 and stormed into the last four stage of the sub-junior girls singles event today of the Royal Connaught Boat Club (RCBC), which got underway at their home tables here.

Also joining the winners will be Madhura Phutane who shocked third seed Prachi Ghumatkar in staright games 11-2, 11-7, 11-6, 11-4 and top seed Sruja Bhat who disposed off Manasi Munj comfotably 11-7, 11-8, 11-3, 11-7.

Devika Bhide, however, kept herself on course getting the better of unseeded Shreya Kothawale in staright games 11-3, 11-1, 11-6 and moved into the last four stage of the Cadet girls singles.

Fauzia who seemed to be in fine fettle, also upset fourth seed Sweta Khatavkar in identical fashion 11-6, 11-8, 11-8 and also moved in the semi-final of the section. Also joining the winners in the Cadet girls singles will be second seed Manasi Munj who whipped unseeded Sevi Jain 11-7, 11-2, 11-3.

Cadet Girls Singles (qarter-finals): Devika Bhide beat Shreya Kotha Kothavale 11-3, 11-1, 11-6; Neha Godse beat Isha Pantsachiv 11-7, 11-3, 11-2; Fauzia Meharali beat Sweta Khatavkar 11-6, 11-8, 11-8; Manasi Munj beat Shevi Jain 11-7, 11-2, 11-3.
