Ace Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat received a rousing reception at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi after the Paris Olympics 2024 heartbreak. As she stepped away from the airport, she could be seen emotionally breaking down in front of a huge crowd. Wrestlers Bajrang Punia and Sakshi Malik welcomed Vinesh at the airport.
According to the Indian Express, in her native village Balali, local youth Rohit Sangwan and his friends planned to put up posters of Vinesh Phogat that read “Mhari Chhori, Khara Sona”, which translates to “Our girl, pure gold.”

“Hamare liye to Vinesh didi ka welcome karna hi medal ke saman hai (For us, to welcome Vinesh didi is like a medal). It’s a matter of pride for all of us that we are getting a chance to welcome her)” Rohit Sangwan told The Indian Express.
The main gate to the village is also set to welcome Phogat with a poster, "The pride, dignity, honor, and daughter of the nation."
Moreover, the celebrations include a total of 750 kg boondi laddoos being prepared for the villagers to welcome the wrestler at the Hanuman Mandir.

After her disqualification for being 100 grams overweight, Vinesh Phogat appealed the decision of the United World Wrestling (UWW) and International Olympic Committee (IOC) at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) for a joint silver medal.
However, her joint silver medal plea at the Paris Olympics 2024 was dismissed by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). Indian Olympic Association (IOA) chief PT Usha was shocked to hear the verdict from the CAS.
“The IOA firmly believes that the total disqualification of an athlete for such a weight infraction on the second of two days warrants a deeper examination. Our legal representatives had duly brought this out in their submissions before the Sole Arbitrator,” the IOA statement read.
Notably, Vinesh Phogat, who was playing her third Olympics, had cut her hair, gone without food and water, and spent the whole night working out to stay eligible within the permissible weight limit.
