The Miami Heat have made a remarkable entry into the NBA playoffs, determined not to exit quietly. After losing an early lead, they regrouped to defeat the Atlanta Hawks 123-114 in overtime on Friday. This victory marked a historic moment as they became the first No. 10 seed to reach the playoffs since the play-in format began in 2020-21.
Miami's journey to the playoffs was not easy. They are also the first team to advance with two road wins. Their next challenge is against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday in the Eastern Conference playoffs' opening game. Tyler Herro led Miami with 30 points, including two crucial 3-pointers in overtime.

Haywood Highsmith expressed confidence ahead of their clash with the top-seeded Cavaliers. "We did it the hard way. We're battle-tested," said Highsmith, who contributed 12 points and 10 rebounds. "We can go anywhere and beat anybody."
Andrew Wiggins added 20 points, while Bam Adebayo scored 17 for Miami. The Heat started strong, scoring the first 10 points and at one point leading by 17 in the second period. They maintained a 10-point lead less than three minutes into the game.
The Hawks, led by Trae Young's 29 points, managed to tie at 88 before taking their first lead with just over seven minutes left. However, Miami fought back to secure their win. Davion Mitchell missed his initial four shots but later added three crucial 3-pointers in overtime.
Coach Erik Spoelstra praised Mitchell's resilience after a challenging start. "For him to struggle like that in the first half and have that kind of fourth quarter and overtime really speaks to his character," Spoelstra noted.
Mitchell credited his performance turnaround to support from Spoelstra and teammates. "I feel I was forcing it in the first half," Mitchell admitted. "I just kind of reset in my mind ... and let the game come to me."
Mitchell emphasized his belief in his preparation despite missing shots initially. "Even if I'm missing shots, it's OK," he said confidently.
As Miami prepares for their upcoming match against Cleveland, they carry forward their momentum and determination from this historic achievement into their playoff campaign.
