Jimmy Butler is set to miss the Miami Heat's upcoming two games due to a suspension. This decision follows Butler's absence from the team's flight, as reported by Shams Charania of ESPN. Initially, Butler planned to join the team in Milwaukee later, but he will now be sidelined for both games against the Bucks and the Brooklyn Nets.
This marks Butler's second suspension in January. He has played only three games since completing a seven-game suspension earlier this month. The previous ban was imposed on January 3 due to detrimental conduct, following his comments about losing passion for basketball after a loss to the Indiana Pacers.

The Heat's management had initially stated they would not trade Butler despite reports suggesting he wanted out of Miami. However, after announcing his seven-game suspension, they expressed willingness to consider trade offers for the six-time All-Star.
If Miami decides against trading Butler, they face the risk of him leaving as a free agent next summer without any compensation. He is eligible for an extension worth $113 million over two years. This situation presents a significant decision point for the team's future strategy.
Butler has been instrumental in leading Miami to the NBA Finals twice and has been named five times to the All-NBA Defensive Team. This season, he averages 17 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 4.8 assists over 25 games but has already missed 17 out of 42 games.
Since returning from his previous suspension, Butler averaged 13 points, 5.7 assists, and 3.3 rebounds across three games. His performance remains crucial for Miami as they navigate this challenging period with their star player.
