Khris Middleton Scores Eight Points Off Bench While Managing Recovery For Bucks

Khris Middleton scored eight points in 21 minutes off the bench as the Milwaukee Bucks defeated the San Antonio Spurs. Coach Doc Rivers is monitoring Middleton's health following bilateral ankle surgery.

The Milwaukee Bucks secured a 121-105 victory over the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday, marking their second consecutive win. Khris Middleton contributed eight points in 21 minutes, coming off the bench. Coach Doc Rivers clarified that Middleton's bench role was due to health considerations following his bilateral ankle surgery over the summer. "It's just not improving to the place he wants it, or we want it, so we just got to monitor," Rivers stated regarding Middleton's condition.

Middleton's performance included two successful shots out of seven attempts, including one three-pointer. He also recorded five rebounds and three assists. Despite missing the first 21 games of the season due to surgery, Middleton has played 13 games since his December debut. His recent absence from Monday's game against Toronto was due to ankle tendinitis.

Middleton Scores Eight Points for Bucks

Point guard Damian Lillard expressed optimism about Middleton's return, stating, "I think it just makes us an even stronger team." Lillard highlighted how Middleton's presence allows for more strategic flexibility and strengthens the team's second unit. "It just gives you an opportunity where you don’t have to have me and Giannis [Antetokounmpo] on the court one or the other hard time," Lillard added.

Despite being listed on the injury report before facing the Spurs, Antetokounmpo, Lillard, and Andre Jackson Jr. all participated in the game. Taurean Prince filled in for Middleton in the starting lineup. The Bucks have a 3-4 record when Middleton starts; however, Rivers believes this is too small a sample size to evaluate his impact fully.

Rivers acknowledged that managing Middleton's playing time is challenging due to fluctuating performance levels. "The bottom line is just not moving every night the way you like to," Rivers explained. He noted that some nights Middleton moves well, while other nights are more difficult, leading to variable minutes.

Middleton had been part of the starting lineup in his last seven appearances before sitting out against Toronto. His inclusion in any capacity boosts team morale and offers additional options for lineup rotations. As he continues recovering from surgery, monitoring his health remains a priority for both him and the team.

The Bucks aim to maintain their winning momentum while ensuring Middleton regains full fitness. His ability to contribute effectively will be crucial as they progress through the season. Balancing his recovery with team needs will be essential for future success.
