Mikey Musumeci To Defend Flyweight Crown Against Osamah Almarwai At ONE Fight Night 10

Singapore, March 9: After claiming the ONE Flyweight Submission Grappling World Title, Mikey Musumeci is the latest star to be announced for ONE Championship's United States debut.

"Darth Rigatoni" is set to feature prominently on the inaugural US card, and will have his submission grappling crown on the line when he meets his sternest competition yet in Osamah Almarwai at ONE Fight Night 10: Johnson vs. Moraes III on Saturday, 6 May, in Broomfield, Colorado.

Musumeci's flourishing resume in ONE has undoubtedly made him one of the finest grapplers in the world, and his performances inside the Circle have lived up to the billing.

The 27-year-old has already taken on elite names in The Home of Martial Arts, starting with MMA and BJJ legend Masakazu Imanari in his promotional debut, before following up with glistening showcase against Brazil's Cleber Sousa last September at ONE on Prime Video 2 to win the ONE Flyweight Submission Grappling World Title.

Musumeci's most recent outing came this past January at ONE Fight Night 6, where he demonstrated just how lethal his grappling prowess can be in his first World Title defense against the gritty Gantumur Bayanduuren.

Having set up his 2023 campaign in strong fashion, "Darth Rigatoni" will turn his attention to Almarwai, who will certainly give the 27-year-old his toughest test yet, and give the fans their money's worth.

Under the tutelage of ONE veteran Andre Galvao, the Saudi strangler has developed a dangerous game training Atos BJJ in San Diego, amassing numerous impressive accolades throughout his young career.

Fresh off the back of success in the 2022 No-Gi World Championships at brown belt, Almarwai was awarded his black belt in 2022 from Galvao, and proving to not be one to smell the roses, he continued his run of form to win the Pan American Championships, as well as both the IBJJF No-Gi American Nationals and World Championships to boot.

The recent achievements placed him firmly on ONE Championship's radar, and now he will have the opportunity to vie for his biggest prize yet against Musumeci.

The dynamic grapplers have been riding high in their respective careers and boast plenty of success in recent times, which will make for a more thrilling contest at ONE's first-ever event in North America later this year.
