Bengaluru, July 19: The Sports Ministry's nine-memeber committee arrived at a decision that ministers and government servants cannot be elected to the National Sports Federations.
The Committee, constituted to re-draft National Sports Development Code of India, adopted the recommendations made by the Supreme Court-appointed Lodha Committee in the case of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
The committee has barred ministers and bureaucrats from occupying positions in NSFs, besides putting an age cap and tenure restriction on the office-bearers. (More to follow)
