Mizoram hold Bengal 1-1 in Group A tie

Ranchi, Feb 19 (PTI) An ugly incident of red card againstMizoram goalkeeper Vanlalhriata marred their group matchagainst West Bengal which ended in a 1-1 draw in the 34thNational Games at the Birsa Munda Stadium here today.

Vanlalhriata pushed Abhinaba Bag on the left side of thecorner flag and then picked up arguement on being fouled,forcing the referee to flash the red card.

"It may lead to one match suspension; but the technicalcommittee will decide about it," said a technical official.

Bengal drew the first blood when Sakar Sil, after gettinga through pass, bulged the Mizoram net in the 38th munite tomake it 1-0.

Mizoram restored parity when Zico Zoreushanga stabbed theleather from close eleven minutes after the breather.

Substitute Gautam Thakur and Dipindu Biswas mountedseveral openings but poor finishing eluded them to increasethe margin.

They came close to scoring when S Dutta''s booming shotmissed the far post by inches.

Mizoram''s David Sanga got a chance but he shot straightinto the hands of Bengal keeper Debjit Majumdar.
