Mohammed Siraj Rested From India's UK Tour; Prasidh Krishna Named Replacement
Mohammed Siraj has been rested from India's upcoming T20I tours of Ireland and England, with Prasidh Krishna drafted in as replacement. The BCCI said the change is part of workload management and has been described as a precaution to help Siraj recover before a lengthy international calendar.
The board confirmed the decision through an official statement, stressing medical advice and player welfare. "Fast bowler Mohammed Siraj has been withdrawn from India's squads for the upcoming T20I series against Ireland and England," the BCCI said.

"Following discussions between the BCCI Medical Team and the Team Management, Siraj has been advised a period of rest as part of his workload management programme.
Ireland and England tours T20I series squad changes
"The decision has been taken as a precautionary measure to ensure adequate recovery ahead of a long international season. The Men's Selection Committee has named Prasidh Krishna as Siraj's replacement for both T20I series," the BCCI added. Siraj had been named earlier for both tours, featuring two T20Is in Ireland and five in England.
Despite that selection, Siraj was not picked for the Asian Games in Japan, reflecting BCCI’s approach towards rotating key players. India will now rely on Prasidh Krishna to share new-ball duties on the Ireland and England tours. The change ensures India retain experienced pace options even as Siraj steps away briefly from the T20I schedule.
Ireland and England tours T20I series updated squad
The updated squad for the Ireland and England tours retains the core batting and all-round options. Shreyas Iyer continues as captain, with Tilak Varma named vice-captain. Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan remain the wicketkeeping choices, while a mix of pace and spin covers varied conditions expected in Ireland and England.
| Role | Player |
|---|---|
| Captain | Shreyas Iyer |
| Vice-captain | Tilak Varma |
| Wicketkeepers | Sanju Samson, Ishan Kishan |
| Batters / All-rounders | Abhishek Sharma, Shivam Dube, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar |
| Spinners | Varun Chakaravarthy, Ravi Bishnoi |

Siraj comes into this rest phase after a heavy run of games. Siraj was a late inclusion in India's squad for their last T20I assignment, the T20 World Cup. Siraj then played all 17 matches for Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2026, collecting 19 wickets across the season in the league.
The right-arm pacer also featured in the one-off Test against Afghanistan, which finished inside three days on Monday. That workload, across formats, informed the BCCI’s decision on the Ireland and England tours. Prasidh Krishna now has a chance to strengthen a place in India’s T20I pace attack, while Siraj targets full fitness for the long season ahead.
