Mohun Bagan move closer to retain Kolkata League

Kolkata, Aug 26 (UNI) Mohun Bagan today moved closer to retaining domestic championship as they edged past a fighting Railway Football Club 1-0 in the eight-team Sahara Kolkata Premier Football League, which got halfway through.

Taking advantage of the home ground, Bagan surged ahead from a Habibur Rahman Mondol's goal in the first half.

The win took the green and maroon side to 23 points from 10 matches, three points ahead of nearest rival Mohammedan Sporting and five point adrift from East Bengal.

The all important goal came on the 42nd minute when Mohun Bagan desperately wanted to go ahead before the water break.
