Xander Schaufelle has announced that all funds awarded to American players at the 2025 Ryder Cup will be donated to charity. The PGA recently revealed that each participant, including captain Keegan Bradley, will receive $500,000. Of this amount, $300,000 is earmarked for charity. Players have discretion over the remaining $200,000, but Schaufelle and his teammates plan to donate it all.
Schaufelle expressed his view on the substantial charitable donations: "I just see it as a whole lot of money going to charity and we're going to take a lot of c**p." He emphasised learning from the PGA Tour's approach and highlighted their commitment to supporting various causes like the Fire Department or NYPD. This decision aligns with Captain Bradley's earlier pledge to donate his entire share.

In 2023, controversy arose in Italy when reports claimed Patrick Cantlay refused to wear a cap due to unpaid compensation. Cantlay denied these allegations, stating there was no truth in them. Meanwhile, European golfer Rory McIlroy remarked he would even pay for the chance to play in the Ryder Cup.
Schaufelle sees this as an opportunity for increased charitable giving: "I'm looking at it as an opportunity to give away more money. It's going to go to charity." He acknowledged that media narratives might not always reflect this perspective but stressed their willingness to contribute without financial gain.
He further explained that participating in team events without payment is common for them and they are content donating their share. "We make plenty of money throughout the year," Schaufelle noted, highlighting their readiness to support charitable causes whenever possible.
