Moreno vs. Erceg Flyweight Contenders Battle to Headline UFC Mexico City 2025 in March

The Ultimate Fighting Championship has announced that the Octagon will return to Mexico City for the second time in two years and seventh time overall, headlined by a Top 10 flyweight showdown in UFC Mexico City 2025: Moreno vs. Erceg at the Arena CDMX on March 29, 2025.

In the main event, former UFC flyweight champion and No. 2 ranked contender Brandon Moreno takes on former title challenger and No. 9 ranked Steve Erceg. In the co-main event, recently announced UFC Hall of Famer Kelvin Gastelum faces Joe Pyfer.

UFC Mexico City 2025 Main Event Preview

Among the most popular athletes on the roster, former UFC flyweight champion Moreno (22-8-2, fighting out of Tijuana, Mexico) plans to impress in his third UFC main event in a row in front of his home crowd.

Moreno has entertained fans with his winning performances against Deiveson Figueiredo (twice), Kai Kara-France and Brandon Royval. He now intends to earn another shot at flyweight gold with a statement performance against Erceg.

A well-rounded competitor who has finished eight of his 12 wins, Erceg (12-3, fighting out of Perth, Western Australia, Australia) aims to prove he can compete with the top of the flyweight division and earn another shot at the championship.

The Aussie Erceg holds notable wins over Matt Schnell, Alessandro Costa and David Dvorak. Erceg now seeks to snatch Moreno's spot in the rankings in dramatic fashion in his first-ever main event.

UFC Mexico City 2025 Co-Main Event Preview

Recently announced as the newest inductee for the 2025 UFC Hall of Fame for his iconic bout with Israel Adesanya, Gastelum (19-9 1NC, fighting out of Yuma, Ariz.) returns to the Octagon looking to put together another long win streak.

Gastelum has also delivered highlight-reel performances against Michael Bisping, Jacare Souza and Chris Curtis. He now plans to go toe-to-toe with Pyfer and put on a show for the Mexican fans.

Dana White's Contender Series standout Pyfer (13-3, fighting out of Philadelphia, Penn.), on the other hand, looks to start his year with a signature knockout, coming into the Gaestlum fight on the back of a first-round stoppage.

A dynamic finisher, he has ended 12 of his 13 victories before the final bell, including those over Marc-Andre Barriault, Gerald Meerschaert and Alen Amedovski. Pyfer now has his sights set on breaking into the Top 15 by becoming the first person to KO Gastelum.

Additional bouts on the UFC Mexico City 2025 card include:

  • Ronaldo Rodriguez (18-2, fighting out of Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz, Mexico) squares off with Kevin Borjas (9-3, fighting out of Lima, Peru) in a flyweight bout.
  • A thrilling lightweight collision is set between Rafa Garcia (16-4, fighting out of Brawley, Calif.) and Vinc Pichel (14-4, fighting out of Englewood, Colo.).
  • Flyweights Edgar Chairez (11-6 1NC, fighting out of Mexicali, Baja California Mexico) and CJ Vergara (12-6-1, fighting out of San Antonio, Texas) lock horns.
  • Manuel Torres (15-3, fighting out of Tijuana, Mexico) clashes with Drew Dober (27-14 1NC, fighting out of Denver, Colo.) in a lightweight bout guaranteed to deliver fireworks.
  • Jose Daniel Medina (11-4, fighting out of Santa Cruz, Bolivia) and Dana White's Contender Series signee Ateba Gautier (6-1, fighting out of Doula, Cameroon) go head-to-head at middleweight.
  • Dana White's Contender Series standout David Martinez (11-1, fighting out of Mexico City, Mexico) will face Saimon Oliveira (18-5, fighting out of Balneario Camboriu, SC, Brazil) in an exciting bantamweight bout.
  • No. 11 ranked UFC strawweight contender Loopy Godinez (12-5, fighting out of Vancouver, B.C., Canada by way of Aguascalientes, Mexico) puts her spot in the rankings on the line against the dangerous Julia Polastri (13-4, fighting out of Duque de Caxias, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil).

UFC Mexico City 2025 Broadcast Details

UFC Fight Night: Moreno vs Erceg will take place Saturday, March 29 at Arena CDMX. The entire event will be simulcast on ESPN2 and ESPN+ in English and Spanish beginning with the prelims at 4 PM ET / 1 PM PT, followed by the main card at 7 PM ET/ 4 PM PT. ESPN Deportes will also broadcast both the prelims and main card, joining in progress at 6 PM ET / 3 PM PT.
