Motorsport: FMSCI president Bharath Raj passes away

Bengaluru, Aug 15: Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI) president R Bharath Raj passed away here on Saturday, family sources said. He was 56. He is survived by his wife.

Raj, who was also the chairman of the Karnataka Motor Sports Club (KMSC), was elected FMSCI president for a two-year term in 2014.

A mine owner by profession, he sponsored the K-1000 Rally through his company IMG Sports which also promoted the FMSCI Indian National Rally Championship from 2008 to 2010.

IMG Sports was the promoter of the Indian National Rally Championship for the 2008, 2009 and 2010 seasons. His dream was to get the Asia-Pacific Rally Championship and World Rally Championship to India and he put in his best efforts on those two fronts.
