MSWA chalks up long term scheme for 2012 London Olympics

Pune, Jul 27 (UNI) The Maharashtra State Wrestling Association (MSWA), after five decades of hibernation, has geared up by chalking up an innovative and impressive long term scheme for its grapplers to make their mark in the 2012 London Olympics, the association's secretary general Prof Balasaheb Landge said.

The MSWA Managing Committee, which met under the chairmanship of its President, Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar, has decided to launch a four-year long term plan to revitalise wrestling from the grass root level.

Pawar has given a cheque of Rs one crore to the association for creating up-to-date facilities at the MSWA owned Mamasaheb Mohol wrestling complex on the Pune-Satara Road at Katrej.

Pawar has also promised allocation of additional funds of Rs one crore for the training of young wrestlers, to deliver the goods by 2012, Prof Landge observed.
